I have worked most of my career in the food industry working in operations, sales, process management and for the majority of that time in Procurement. I have purchased categories with spends of over £30m each for a global food business as well as as working as a consultant for smaller businesses procuring both directs and indirects. I recognise a that we do not all have huge budgets to invest in our professional development.
We have the "reduce costs to improve the bottom line gene" and that often makes us inherently poor as requesting budget for ourselves or our departments.
